According to sources in Nicaragua the next opponent for WBA Flyweight champion Kazuto Ioka (19-1, 11) [井岡一翔] will likely be the once beaten Nicaraguan 21 year old Keyvin Lara (18-1-1, 6), who is currently the WBA #7 and WBC #5 ranked Flyweight
Lara is an unknown outside of Latin America but is on an 18 fight winning streak after starting his career with a loss way back in 2013, and subsequently fighting to a draw in his second professional bout. Despite his impressive looking record it should be noted that he has fought 19 of his 20 fights in Nicaragua, with the other taking place in nearby Panama, and his most notable win to date came over Yader Cardoza.
Although nothing has been said about the contest in Japan the notes from the source do correlate with what we do know about Ioka's plans. Namely that the bout will be in Japan and will be in mid July. Sadly though Lara is unlikely to meet the expectation that many had had for the bout, with Ioka having been linked to world class names, and Lara would be a big disappointment given some of the names the Osakan had been linked with.
If, as we believe, the source is correct then the bout will likely be confirmed in the next 2 or 3 weeks.
