This coming Sunday we'll see WBC Light Flyweight champion Ken Shiro (10-0, 5) [拳 四朗] make his first defense, as he faces off with former champion Pedro Guevara (30-2-1, 17) in Tokyo. Today the two fighters took part in their signing ceremony for the bout.
At the event today the two fighters spoke to the media with both seeming relaxed and confident ahead of their bout.
Ken Shiro spoke about being relaxed and stated that he was hoping to have a nice stress free day tomorrow, suggesting that he was going to go shopping or to the movies and really put boxing to the back of his mind. It seems clear that to him the preparation is done and that there is no real need to over-exert ahead of the fight, instead he's looking to have a little wind down ahead of the weigh in.
As for the fight the champion spoke highly of the challenger, but seemed very confident of winning, and retaining his title.
Guevara on the other hand sounded confident, has obviously been training hard and hasn't travelled to lose. He stated he was in good condition and that he would definiteley win.
Interestingly both fighters will fight in Japanese produced Winning gloves.
