On September 9th we'll see hard hitting Japanese fighter Keita Obara (15-1-1, 14) [小原 佳太] travel to Russia, where he will fight in a world title bout against unbeaten Russian world champion Eduard Troyanovsky (24-0, 21).
Today, ahead of that bout, Obara was the guest of honour at an event hosted to bid him the best of luck ahead of the bout.
The event featured 150 people, from sponsors and friends to fellow fighters, such as Ryota Murata, Ryo Takenaka and Daigo Higa, who were all strongly backing their man, and in some cases taking in the experience ahead of possible future world title fights of their own.
The next week or so will see Obara putting final touches to his training camp before travelling to Russia on September 2nd. Whilst in Russia he will be trying to acclimatise to the conditions of Russia, including a change in weather and time zone. He will however be aware that the biggest test will be Troyanovsky, with the champion being a genuinely devastating puncher in his own right.
