Late yesterday in the US saw a number of weigh ins for bouts set to take place later today. One of those is an IBF Light Welterweight title eliminator between Japanese puncher Keita Obara (15-1, 14) and Nicaraguan fighter Walter Castillo (26-3, 19).
On the scales both Obara and Castillo made weight, with Obara weighing in at 139.4lbs whilst Castillo was 139.6lbs.
For Obara, who has been in the US for over a week, this weight is a career low and shows just how much he has been putting into his preparation. There are however some questions as to whether or not he has over-trained. As for Castillo the weight it one of his lowest and amazingly he lost his last 2 bouts where he came in lighter.
The bout, which it to be screened on NBC Sports, will be Obara's debut and could potentially land him a fight with newly crowned champion Eduard Troyanovsky.
