On Thursday Ioka held a press conference to announce the next bout of Kazuto Ioka (15-1, 9). The announcement was a huge disappointment with Ioka's next opponent being announced as former WBA interim Flyweight world champion Jean Piero Perez (20-7-1, 14), a man who has lost 4 of his last 6 and has been inactive for more than a year.
What wasn't originally made clear was that Ioka's first bout of 2015 was already agreed in principle with Ioka set to fight against WBA champion Juan Carlos Reveco (34-1, 18).
Prior to a bout between Ioka and Reveco both men will need to win in their upcoming contests. For Ioka that shouldn't be difficult with Perez being a very weak opponent. For Reveco however things are a little bit more difficult with the Argentinian fighter needing to defeat current WBA interim champion Yodmongkol Vor Saengthep (34-2, 20) on December 19th.
Sadly the reason the bout between Ioka and Reveco has had to wait until next year is due to the fact Reveco suffered an injury delaying a mandatory fight with Yodmongkol. Originally Reveco was supposed to fight Yodmongkol in October with Ioka there for him if he got through. The injury and subsequent delay are the reasons why Ioka has had to do with Perez.
From what we understand as long as both men get through their coming bouts with no issues they will be fighting in the coming Spring though no specific date has been set as of yet.
