Today, at the Ioka Gym in Osaka, members of the Japanese boxing press had the chance to see an open work out featuring former 2-weight world champion Kazuto Ioka (16-1, 10) who is back in Japan following a short training camp, along with the rest of the Ioka Gym, in Hawaii.
The training session today saw Ioka returning to full training ahead of his much talked about WBA Flyweight title bout with Juan Carlos Reveco (35-1, 19), which is reportedly set to take place on April 22nd. The training saw Ioka sparring 3 rounds with former WBA Minimumweight champion, and close friend, Ryo Miyazaki (22-1-3, 13) and also talking about the future and the recent past.
Although the date and venue haven't been confirmed by Ioka's camp we are expecting a date to be confirmed short and the card is expected to feature Miyazaki as well as the Ioka Vs Reveco bout and a Japanese Super Flyweight title bout featuring unbeaten national champion Sho Ishida (18-0, 10).
Although Ioka came up short in his first attempt at winning a Flyweight title, losing an IBF title fight to Thailand's Amnat Ruenroeng, he seems confident that this time is his time and the camp in Hawaii seems to have been spent working incredibly hard. Now back in Japan Ioka has promised to win another world title and he appears more driven than ever to become a world champion once again.
