Former 2-weight world champion Kazuto Ioka (16-1, 10) may not yet have a date for his first fight of 2015 but he's already back in the gym preparing as he looks towards becoming a 3-weight world champion.
At the moment we are aware that Ioka and his team at the Ioka gym, are deep in talks with Argentinian world champion Juan Carlos Reveco (31-2, 22). There is no date or venue set for that bout as of yet though the speculation is that it will be in April or May and take place in the Osaka. With that in mind it's clear that Ioka isn't going into full on heavy training but is back in camp keeping his weight in check and working on becoming a fully fledged Flyweight, something he hasn't yet looked despite having fought 3 times at the weight.
The talented Osakan fighter failed in an attempt to become a 3-weight world champion last year when he came up short against IBF champion Amnat Ruenroeng. In that bout Ioka looked relatively lightweight against the Thai champion and it's hoped that he now has the experience and time to really fill out into the 112lb division. If he's still unable to really fill out and looked solid at Flyweight then it's hard to see him over-coming Reveco who will be returning to Japan for the first time since he defended against Masayuki Kuroda in February 2013.
