Former multi-time world champion Katsunari Takayama (27-7-0-1, 10) took part in his public training session on Friday at the Nazakato gym. The likable Minimumweight spent time hitting mitts and a heavy bag and generally taking the session lightly so as to not give away too much ahead of his bout with Go Odaira (11-3-3, 1).
The "Lighting Kid", as he is known, looked ready to go and appears almost in perfect condition with only a few pounds left to lose to make the weight. Much of his preparation so far has been spent at Kinki University where he has been sparring with various fighters.
As we all know Takayama's upcoming bout, for the IBF and WBO Minimumweight titles, gives him the opportunity to become the first Japanese fighter in history to claim all 4 major world titles, with the WBO title being the only one he has yet to win.
