Earlier today in the Korakuen Hall fight fans saw former world title challenger Daiki Kaneko (23-5-3, 15) [金子 大樹] claim a 10 round decision win over fellow Japanese fighter Ribo Takahata (12-7-1, 4) [高畑里望] in what was a hard fought but clear win for Kaneko.
Prior to the bout Kaneko, who had lost 3 of his previous 6 and twice last year, had stated that he was seeking a KO however he had to settle for a decision with scores of 98-91 posted by all 3 judges
In a supporting bout fans saw a minor upset as Shingo Eto (17-5-1, 9) [江藤 伸悟] came up short against the once beaten Masaru Sueyoshi (12-1, 7) [末吉 大], who recorded his 9th straight win. For Sueyoshi the bout was regarded as a marked step up in class though he dug in well for a well earned 8 round decision win, with scores of 77-75, 78-75 and 78-74.
In another supporting bout fans saw the exciting Kenji Ono (11-1, 6) [大野 兼資] stop Takumi Suda (12-12-2, 3) [須田 拓弥] in the 8th round of their bout. The talented Ono, fighting for the first time since his FOTY contender against Jun Takigawa earlier this year. The win may not register on the international scene but could be enough to secure the exciting Ono a Japanese title fight later in the year.
