Last Friday we saw Chinese star Zou Shiming (9-2, 2) [邹市明] suffer a surprising stoppage lose to unknown Japanese fighter Sho Kimura (15-1-2, 8) [木村翔], losing the WBO Flyweight title as a result. Just a day later Cinese fans had something to celebrate as Heavyweight hopeful Zhang Junlong (18-0, 18) [张君龙] continued his perfect record, stopping South African veteran Osborne Machimana (22-10-2, 17).
As with most of Junlong's fights the actual contest was a bit of a mystery, with little in terms of build up and no notable video footage of the contest, however reports from China have stated that the bout was part of a charity event and ended in the second round, not the opening round as reported on boxrec.com.
On paper Junlong's record is impressive, and this was his 4th win of 2017, though it does need to be noted that Machimana was 38 years old and has now been stopped 6 times, including a 2011 loss to the then touted Englishman David Price, suggesting he wasn't expected to be a stiff test for the heavy handed Junlong.
