A couple of weeks ago we reported that Japanese Heavyweight champion Kyotaro Fujimoto (14-1, 7) [藤本 京太郎] would be fighting in a non-title bout on August 2nd at the Shinjuku Face, in Tokyo. At the time of that report the fighter had no opponent named, though we were informed that it would likely be against an Australian fighter, with Kadoebi seemingly trying to secure a foe.
Today we were informed that Kadoebi have managed to get Fujimoto an Australian opponent, with that opponent being named as Adam Lovelock (11-5, 2), a 33 year old former Cruiserweight who has fought just once in the last 2 years.
Whilst the choice of opponent is another poor one for Fujimoto it's likely that he and his team are viewing this show as more of a charitable event than a serious show, with the fighter likely to face a more established, and testing opponent, later in the year as he looks to move towards a world title fight in the near future.
