Earlier today we saw"Pinoy Pride 31", the latest of the ALA promoted super shows in the Philippines. The card, on the whole, was a show case of Filipino talent though featured one rather interesting oddity as two Mexican fighters clashed in a bout that seemed to look very out of place.
That bout was a contest between 47 year old Mexican politician and businessman Jorge Kahwagi (12-0, 12) and the little known Ramon Olivas (13-4, 9).
On paper it looked like a strange match up, especially considering it was Kahwagi's first bout in more that a decade, and it proved to be just as strange in the ring with Olivas willing to go down almost as easily as a cheap hooker.
The bout, which lasted just 57 seconds, saw Olivas hit the canvas very early on. Although he got back to his feet he didn't last much longer with Kahwagi forcing him to the ropes and forcing an early stoppage of a man who appeared to be there are a willing loser to what seemed like a circus act.
The peculiar looking Kawagi, who infamously had a fist fight with a professional wrestler, had last fought in 2005 and although he hadn't beaten anyone of real class he does hold a notable win over the infamous "Buck Smith", stoppign Smith back in 2003.
