Japanese based Filipino veteran Jonathan Baat (27-5-3, 13) booked himself a major fight this past Sunday as he dispatched an over-matched Thai foe in 5 rounds in what was a warm up bout before Baat travels off to Mexico.
Baat had had a bout arrange for October 25th against former world champion Rodrigo Guerrero (21-5-1, 14) though it was dependent on how he did on Sunday. He managed to get through with no issues, shake a little rust and it was similar to a sparring session from the Filipino fighter. Now it'll be on to a more serious contest against Guerrero for the WBC international Silver Bantamweight title.
Fans might remember Guerrero from his bouts with Asian fighters in the past. He has had mixed experiences with his most recent contest being a stoppage win over Takahiro Shigee, earlier this year, before that he had lost a decision in an IBF Super Flyweight world title fight to Daiki Kameda.
This looks to be a great fight on paper and we're wishing Baat the best though we all know that Guerrero is a hell of a fighter and that he will be the favourite over the 34 year old Baat who may need to perform out of his skin to pick up the win.
