It's fair to say that fight fans are looking forward to December 29th. Of course we get the return to the ring of Naoya Inoue but we also get a potential FOTY candidate as IBF Light Flyweight champion Javier Mendoza (24-2-1, 19) battles former 2-weight world champion Akira Yaegashi (22-5, 12).
Earlier today Mendoza took part in a media work out ahead of the bout The Mexican seemed very confident but was also talking about the upcoming fight being a "war" complimenting Yaegashi on his warrior like spirit in the ring. It seems the Mexican has scouted the Japanese challenger and seems like it's a stylistic match up that favours him and will lead to a very special fight.
As part of the work out Mendoza worked the mitts, did some bag work and shadowed boxed. During the session he looked sharp and very confident with his power catching the attention of Koji Matsumoto, Yaegashi's trainer, who seemed to agree that the bout will be exciting.
Interestingly Mendoza will be joined on December 26th by a very special member of his team, the legendary Erik Morales, who will be in Mendoza's corner for the bout.
