Earlier today the winners of the Japanese boxing awards for the month of November were announced.
The monthly MVP award was won by OPBF Flyweight champion Koki Eto who retained his Oriental title with a stoppage victory over talented Filipino Cris Paulino. Paulino managed to give Eto a really stubborn test before being stopped in the 10th round as Eto's power and physical strength told on the smaller man who really impressed us for 8 or 9 rounds.
The "Fighting Spirit" award was won by the talented and promising Masayuki Ito who scored one of his biggest wins as he stopped Ryan Sermona, also a Filipino visitor, inside a round. The win for Ito was a rare stoppage though showed he can be a very aggressive fighter when he wants to be. Since that bout Ito has announced that he will be fighting in a Japanese Super Featherweight title bout against Rikki Naito in February next year as part of the Champions Carnival.
The "State of the Art" award was won by youngster Yuichiro Kasuya who scored an exciting victory over Yutaka Ekawa in the Rookie of the East final at the start of February. Ekawa will be going for gold later this month in the All Japan Rookie of the year Final.
