Earlier today, January 9th, the awards committee in Japan announced the winners of the monthly awards for this past December.
The winner of the MVP award was the exciting Yoshitaka Kato (29-5-1, 9) who won his rubber contest with Nihito Arakawa on December 6th. Kato, who was still the Japanese Lightweight champion when this bout took place, was a clear winner in a competitive contest that finally ended the rivalry between the two men.
The fighting spirit award was won by Yukinori Oguni (14-1, 4) who successfully claimed the Japanese Super Bantamweight title with a narrow decision win over Yasutaka Ishimoto, also on December 6th.
The state of the art award was won by Kazuki Matsuyama (10-5, 5) who scored his biggest win to date as he over-came Masayoshi Kotake on December 17th with a clear 8 round decision.
