Earlier today we received an from our good friend Mikko Marttinen in regards to his Indonesian charge Iwan Zoda (8-1, 7). Due to the growing interest in Zoda from fans who are starting to see the teenager's ability we have decided to share some of the information Mikko sent to us.
Firstly the hope is that Zoda will return to the ring in March, with March 12th being the targeted date. The idea is that Zoda's opponent for that bout will be a step up from his most recent opponent, who was Phupha Por Nobnom. If things go to plan that will be one of 3 bouts Zoda has between March and August as his team try to keep him busy and continue to raise his profile, which has become rather large in West Kalimantan, which is on the island of Borneo. If he continues to raise his profile the hope is, later in the year, to have him headline in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta. A lofty goal, but one which his team do seem to believe is genuinely possible for the end of the year.
Hopefully if Zoda's profile continues to rise he'll begin to get more notable bouts, such as his break out win last year over Petchchorhae Kokietgym, the win that really put him on the proverbial boxing map.
We hope Mikko doesn't mind us sharing the plans for Zoda and of course we hope that you, the fight fans, continue to follow Zoda's development as he really is a shining star on the Indonesian boxing scene.
For those who would like to see some highlights form Zoda's most recent bout. The video is thanks to Berry Hehakaya and was brought to our attention by Mikko.
