According to sources in Indonesia promoter Armin Tan is said to be trying to secure a world title fight for his unbeaten hopeful Tibo Monabesa (15-0-2, 7) before the end of 2017.
The promoter spoke to the Indonesian press last month and sttaed that he was looking to secure funds to get Monabesa a bout for a world title, with their preferred choice being WBA Light Flyweight champion Ryoichi Taguchi (25-2-2, 11) [田口良一]. Altough Taguchi does have a bout set for July, against mandatory challenger Robert Barrera (18-1, 12), the Indonesian's team is looking to secure a bout in Banyuasin, Palembang potentially in September.
It does seem unlikely that Tan will get Monabesa a world title fight before the end of 2017, which is his hope, but it's clear that the talk is serious and that they really are trying to get Monabesa aworld title fight sooner rather than later. At the moment Monabesa is ranked #6 by the WBA and #15 by the WBC and with another fight later this year he could boost both of those rankings and help himself secure a world title fight, though he would probbaly have to wait until 2018.
Although Taguchi is the primary target it wouldn't be a huge surprise for Tan to look towards other champions if they were open to facing their man.
