Tomorrow Japanese fight fans at the Korakuen Hall will get the chance to see WBO Atomweight champion Nao Ikeyama (18-3-2, 5) [池山直] defending her title against hungry challenger Saemi Hanagata (13-6-2, 7) [花形 冴美], in what will be the second bout between these two women.
Today the two fighters took part in their weigh in, and both made the 102lb limit with real ease.
The lighter of the two was the champion who came in well under the limit at 99.5lbs and was fully clothed at the time showing just how light she was. Although coming in at one of the lowest weights of her career Ikeyama will also come into the bout as a turly confident fighter, having already recorded 5 defenses of the title since winning it more than 3 years ago.
As for Hanagata she was around 101.6lbs for the bout, and looked in great shape, as she looks to finally claim a world title, in what will be her fourth world title fight.
At the weigh in both seemed confident with Ikeyama stating her stamina in the later rounds will be the difference whilst Hanagata showed real determination to claim a world title, after set backs to Ikeyama, Momo Koseki and Kayoko Ebata.
Ikeyama and Hanagata go again for WBO honours!
