Unbeaten Chinese slugger Ik Yang (18-0-0-1, 13) maybe unbeaten and touted but he has generally feasted on smaller or shot fighters. This weekend he faces his stiffest test, by far, as he goes up against world ranked Thai Patomsuk Pathompothong (29-2-1, 18). This is, easily, Yang's toughest bout on paper however the bookies seem to view it as little more than a stepping stone for the Chinese puncher.
Coming in to the bout the bookies have priced Yang as a prohibitive favourite with odds of 1/12. For those who view the potential upset Patomsuk is available at 6/1 and, in fairness, that is actually quite tasty.
We know fans haven't seen much of the Thai but he did impress us in his bout against Takayuki Hosokawa and we suggest fans watch that before writing him off. Of course Yang is a more powerful fighter than Hosokawa but Hosokawa is a world ranked Light Middleweight whilst Yang is only just beginning to make his name at 140lbs, having previously fought much of his career at Lightweight.
