On October 13th we'll see the very highly regarded Hinata Maruta (5-0, 4) [丸田 陽七太] challenge OPBF Super Bantamweight champion Hidenori Otake (29-2-3, 13) [大竹 秀典] in what is a huge step up for the talented youngster.
Today, around a month before the bout, Maruta took part in a public work out, showing off his skills for the media and talking to the press, answering some questions about the contest and his training.
The training featured 4 rounds of sparring with Maruta sharing the ring with a Filipino foe. The sparring showed the speed and sharpness of Maruta who's jab looked razor sharp, his left hook to the body was crunching and his uppercut was frightening. The sparring showed just how smooth and natural Maruta makes boxing look and he really did look in amazing shape, despite the fight being weeks away.
After the spar Maruta spoke to the media and said that he is away that Otake is a veteran fighter, but that he will rely on his boxing ability and and that he's going to step up his training as we get closer to the fight.
