The Japanese teenager, who many in Japan view as a future star of boxing, looked supremely talented and incredibly confident from the opening moments of the fight. Those moments saw him quickly find the range for his sharp jabv, which allowed him to set up everything else he wanted to throw. That included a vicious right hand to the jaw that seen the Thai down for the first time.
The Thai got up from the knockdown and decided to take the fight to Maruta which was a major mistake with Maruta landing spiteful counters before a right hand sent Krunsing down for the second time, with the referee quickly waving the bout off, after less than 2 minutes.
Following the bout Maruta spoke about his aims, and the delightful ring girl.
Maruta intends to return to the ring in Summer, with a late July date being eyed, in a bout for the WBC Youth Bantamweight title. The fight would be his first title fight and would likely see him face someone much more testing that Krungsing, who looked thoroughly out of his depth from the opening bell. The hope is to get that bout made in Osaka before potentially bigger bouts in 2017.
As for the ring girl, Maruta apologised for the fact she didn't get to show her ability as ring girl. Despite the fact she wasn't needed she did pose in the ring with Maruta after the bout
*Krungsing's record has also been reported as 7-4, (3)
