Earlier today WBC Youth Bantamweight champion Hinata Maruta (3-0, 2) [丸田 陽七太] took to his own blog to confirm that his ring return would be on November 23rd at the Sumiyoshi Ward Center, confirming what we had already suspected following an announcement from Mutoh Gym a week ago.
What we weren't sure of at the time was whether or not Maruta would be defending his Youth title. He has now confirmed that his upcoming bout would indeed see him making the first defense of the belt that he won earlier this year, when he stopped Wilbert Berondo.
Sadly whilst we now know, for a fact, that Maruta will be in action on November 23rd we are none the wiser about his potential opponent with that announcement likely to come over the next few days, along with an officially announcement from Morioka boxing. With some suggesting that announcement could be made as early as Thursday!
For those unaware Maruta is widely regarded as one of the best prospects in Japan, and those in the know have suggested that he may be the best teenager in professional boxing today. So far his career has seen him shine with a major debut against the then world ranked Jason Canoy and of course his title victory. It's expected that 2017 will be a huge year for the youngster with his target said to be the Japanese or OPBF title by the end of next year.
