The win for Maruta saw him instilled at #44 on boxrec.com, in their Super Bantamweight rankings, though has since seen him climb a place to leave him at #43.
Whilst the boxrec.com rankings compare Maruta against everyone, they aren't the only set of rankings to have been impressed by him. Unsurprisingly the JBC have also been impressed and have stated they they will be ranking him at #13 in the Super Bantamweight division in their domestic rankings, when they are officially released. That will allow Maruta, in theory at least, to fight for the Japanese title in his second bout, though we're not expecting him to do that when he returns to the ring in March. Instead it's likely he'll be looking to get either an 8 or 10 rounder under his belt before progressing to title fights.
Sadly a the time of writing no footage has been released of the Maruta Vs Canoy bout, though we're hoping that it will come out sooner rather than later.
