Firstly, in regards to the site, we had our best year in terms of hits. In fact we had an year on year increase of around 25%, suggesting that either more fans are becoming aware of Asian fighters, particularly Naoya Inoue, Kazuto Ioka and Shinsuke Yamanaka who drove spikes in hits every time they fought, or that there are simply more fighters gaining attention in the west. Financially we also recouped all of the expenses we spent, covering the money we spent on things like Boxingraise.com and Asign-boxing. We certainly aren't rolling in money but we are covering our costs.
Given the growth we are expecting 2017 to see a further increase in hits, articles, general attention and advertising revenue.
Of course that growth has been down to you, our readers and followers. We want to give a huge thanks to everyone who has visited the site over the last year, or retweeted something, or shared something, or included us as a source. With out you guys it would literally just be us writing this for ourselves, and if that was the case we really wouldn't bother. So thank you for every read, it makes doing this worth while.
For those who want to offer advice, help, stories and other details we are always available to contact either through twitter (@asianboxing) or emails (email@example.com) and would love any all feed back or stories that fans want to offer.
On a similar note we also want to see thanks to everyone who has either sent us a guest article over the last year or allowed us to go outside the confines of our own little hub and take our submissions. That includes sites like Ringnews24.com, Aus-Boxing, BoxingScene.com, theboxingtribune.com, firstclassboxing.com, boxingnewsandviews.com, boxingnewstv.com and others, whom we're sorry for forgetting about. We're hoping to continue our relationships with all these sites, and others, and will try to get regular pieces featured on to various sites during 2017.
With the growth of the Asian boxing scene, and it's appeal to a wider audience, we will of course continue to try and make fight fans aware of the various fighters, the emerging prospects, the upcoming fights. We will also try to contact various media channels in Asia in an attempt to try and get more channels to follow in the footsteps of CBC, who live streamed the recent Kosei Tanaka Vs Moises Fuentes fight.
Talking about the Tanaka Vs Fuentes fight gets us nicely on to 2016 which has been a wonderful year for boxing fans in the East. We'll admit the huge global bouts haven't happened. We haven't seen Gennady Golovkin Vs Saul Alvarez, Anthony Joshua Vs Deontay Wilder or Naoya Inoue Vs Roman Gonzalez. We have however seen some brilliant match ups and some great fights, both globally and in Asia. Those fights have left some amazing memories, such as seeing Hozumi Hasegawa reach his goal of becoming a 3-weight champion, Johnriel Casimero getting revenge over Amnat Ruenroeng, Marlon Tapales amazingly coming back to defeat Pungluang Sor Singyu and the amazing development in the online streaming services now available.
Coming into 2017 we're excited by the match ups we could end up getting, we're excited about the huge number of prospects coming through and we're excited to see what happens next in boxing. We hope you are too!
