In a move that we considering a little bit surprising, but very good, it's been confirmed that Japanese terrestrial channel NTV (Nippon TeleVision) will be airing "World Premium Boxing 19 The REAL double World Championship".
Despite it's long title this a show that, we believe, everyone with even a passing interest in boxing, should be excited about because it's the show that features Shinsuke Yamanaka's (20-0-2, 15) up coming WBC Bantamweight title defense againse Belgian Stephane Jamoye (25-4, 14) and also the IBF Super Bantamweight challenge of Hozumi Hasegawa (33-4, 15) who will be battling against Spanish world champion Kiko Martinez (30-4, 22).
From what we understand the broadcast will begin at 19:00 local time and finish at 20:54 featuring both bouts in full. We think that if one bout does finish early the channel will make room to fit in some footage from Takahiro Ao's (25-3-1, 12) fight with Marco Antonio Lopez (23-3, 14) which is the major under-card bout on the show.
As we said, this is great news. We had really worried about it being on WOWOW, a pay subscription channel, after Yamanaka's last bout was televised on the channel, though with this one being on NTV it means those with Key Hole TV and NijiTV will be able to watch the action, as will those who manage to find a stream or get to see it in Japan.
We hope to bring you a build up feature for this show soon though with it just being a week away we understand some fans are already very excited and will be even more excited to know they can now watch it live.
