Earlier today the Japanese media had a chance to see Mexican fighter Ganigan Lopez (26-6, 17) take part in a media training day ahead of this Friday's bout with WBC Light Flyweight champion Yu Kimura (18-2-1, 3) [木村 悠].
The Mexican, who was also in Japan last year to act as a sparring partner, sounded confident when he spoke top the media. The Mexican's confidence seems to have been built on his intelligence in the ring and he has stated that he will fight cleverly against the speed champion. Although the talk is of a smart boxing contest there is a real possibility that the fight will become a war.
For Lopez the opportunity on Friday will be his second world title bout, following a loss last year to Pedro Guevara. It seems like Lopez has used that loss to his advantage stating that he wasn't in great physical condition for that bout but will be for this one.
Away from his professional boxing career the challenger teaches boxing in Mexico and seems to have used that experience to stay in shape ahead of this bout.
