Earlier today saw the announcement of the latest monthly award winners in Japan.
The MVP for the month was Ryuichi Funai (27-7, 19) [船井 龍一], the new Japanese Super Flyweight champion who won the title on March 22nd with a career defining win over Kenta Nakagawa, to claim his first professional title and establish himself as a player at the top of the Japanese domestic scene.
The Fighting Spriti award was won by the recently crowned OPBF Super Bantamweight champion Hidenori Otake (28-2-3, 12) [大竹 秀典] who over-came Filipino visitor Jelbirt Gomera on March 17th to claim his second professional title.
The third award, the "State of the Art" award, also regarded as the New Comer award, was surprisingly won by female fighter Ayumi Goto (6-0, 4) [後藤あゆみ], who claimed the OPBF female Super Bantamweight title on March 15th when she out pointed Kim Actub.
The three fighters will be able to collect their awards on May 1st at the Korakuen Hall.
