In late June the Korean Boxing Commission (KBC) revealed that former female world title challenger Hye Soo Park (4-7-1, 1) [박혜수] will return to the ring on July 22nd, fighting for the first time in more than 2 years, to take on Filipino foe Carleans Rivas (5-4-3) in a bout for the World Boxing Society (WBS) female Light Flyweight title.
The Korean fighter began her career back in 2009, and suffered 4 straight losses, but managed to turn that form around in 2011 and she went on to claim the PABA female Super Flyweight title in 2013. A few months after that win she faced off against the brilliant Anabel Ortiz, on the under-card of Koki Kameda's bout with Jung Oh Son, and was widely beaten by the excellent Mexican. It was a year until she fought again, winning a decision in late 2014 before vanishing from boxing for a while.
The 28 year old Rivas made her debut in 2011, and went a rather peculiar 2-0-4 in her first 6 bouts. Following unbeaten run she has gone "lose-win, lose-win" since, losing 4 of her last 7 including a decision loss to Chaoz Minowa in an OPBF title fight back in December. During her career Rivas has fought ina number of title fights and actually claimed the GAB female Flyweight title last year, whilst avenging a loss to Lady Love Sampiton in the process..
At the moment little is known about the under-card for the show, but it's likely to be revealed in the coming days.
