We are sad to report that former Indonesian amateur fighter Willem Papilaya has passed away at the age of 44.
Full details haven't been revealed, though his death is is speculated as having come from a heart attack, and was explained as being sudden.
Although not a major name outside of Asia, and more specifically Indonesia, Willem was a very notable amateur for the country. He is best known for leaving a mark at the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok, winning a Silver medal in the Light Welterweight division where he lost in the final to 2000 Olympic gold medal winner Muhammad Abdullaev in the final.
As well as his triumph in Bangkok he would go on to be a key figure on the domestic scene.
Willem will be buried on Wednesday in West Java.
