Last week we reported that CBC would be making an international stream available for the May 20th WBO Light Flyweight world title bout, which sees champion Kosei Tanaka (8-0, 5) [田中恒成] defending his title against mandatory challenger Angel Acosta (16-0, 16). That stream will cover regions outside of Japan and make it possible for fans in Europe, the America's and Africa to watch the bout.
Today it was revealed that those in Tokyo will also get the chance to see the contest live as TBS have announced they will be showing the contest through the Kanto region of Japan, and will be doing so as a simulcast with CBC who are airing the show in the Chubu region. This means the bout will be aired at 4PM local time.
The fact TBS are showing this live suggests that they are committed to joining affiliate station CBC in the devlopment of Tanaka and his promising future, as they continue to invest in boxing and look to build on the fighters they have links to, which include Yukinori Oguni and Kazuto Ioka. They were once connected to the Kameda's but following the various issues of the Kameda brothers it looks like TBS are looking to fill the void with a new generation of fighters, like Tanaka and Oguni.
