Yesterday saw the weigh in for this weekend's WBA female Minimumweight title between current world champion Anabel Ortiz (15-3, 3), of Mexico, and Japanese challenger Etsuko Tada (13-1-2, 3) and thankfully both fighters made weight and looked good at the weigh in.
Tada came in the heavier fighter at 104.75lbs, just 0.25lbs inside the limit whilst Ortiz was just over 104lbs interestingly this is a reversal of their first fight, which took place in July 2013. For that fight Ortiz was the heavier fighter at 104.25lbs whilst Tada was 104lbs.
In their first meeting it was Ortiz who acted as the travelling visitor challenging for the title as she over-came Tada with a controversial split decision. This time around it's Tada travelling as the challenger though she is also travelling as a fighter who is seeking revenge for her sole career defeat.
This bout is one of two really interesting female title fights tonight and although it's in Mexico we're hoping that Tada can bring back the gold with what would be a notable upset according to the bookies who have Ortiz priced at 2/5.
