After yesterday's controversial IBO Super Flyweight title fight in South African between Filipino Edrin Dapudong (29-6, 16) and Lwandile Sityatha (17-3-1, 7) it appears we're going to get a rematch with the camps "agreeing in principle" to meet again before the end of the year.
The bout, on Friday, saw Dapudong losing his title to the South African via a split decision that many in attendance disagreed strongly with. We've yet to see the bout but from what we've heard it was one that Dapudong certainly deserved to win with many thinking it was a clear win by the Filipino who won the belt last year by icing Gideon Buthelezi inside a round.
As a sign of good sportsmanship the South African team were apparently very happy to agree to a rematch and better yet for Dapudong it's expected to come in Davoa in Dapudong's native Philippines.
At the moment there is no set date though it's said that the bout will be organised this year and that it's just a matter of formalities before the bout is signed. We're hoping it really is that easy though in boxing we all know things aren't as straight forward as they should be.
