We're sad to report that former Filipino fighter Benedict Tayamora, better known as Dondon Concepcion, has lost his battle with cancer at the age of 38.
The Filipino racked up a record of a record of 20-6-1 (10) during a career that began in 1995 and ended in 2001. Although never the winner of a huge fight Concepcion did claim the WBO Inter-Continental Bantamweight title during is career and faced off against Israel Vazquez, in what turned out to be his last professional bout.
From reports in the Philippines the cancer was diagnosed about 10 months ago and he passed away on June 30th, leaving behind a wife and 6 kids.
For those who recognise his surname, he's the older brother of active fighter Bernabe Concepcion, who informed sources that Dondon was involved in a motorcycle accident around the time of his cancer diagnosis.
We'd like to send out thoughts to the Dondon's family during this hard time.
