Later today we'll see Kyrgyzstan born boxer-puncher Dmitry Bivol (11-0, 9) [Дмитрий Юрьевич Бивол] make his first defense of the WBA Light Heavyweight title, as he takes on the once beaten Trent Broadhurst (20-1, 12).
Yesterday the two men took part in their weigh in for the contest and both made weight.
The champion, who was upgraded from "interim" champion earlier this year, was 174¼lbs, which is around the standard weight for Bivol if not slightly lower than usual. He looked in great shape, and it was obvious that he is taking the bout seriously, despite being very heavily favoured. Broadhurst on the other hand was bang on the 175lb divisional limit and looked confident, but it's clear the bout is a monstrous step up for the Australian fighter, who has never competed with anyone close to the ability of Bivol.
