Earlier today it was announced that unbeaten Filipino Dexter Alimento (10-0, 7) would be back in the ring on March 31st, as he attempts to claim the MinProBa Light Flyweight title.
The youngster came to the attention of the boxing world in January, when he beat Chanachai CP Freshmart in Chiang Rai for the WBC Youth Minimumweight title. This will be his first bout since that one and will see him battle against the very experienced Rodel Tejares (20-37-6, 5).
If Alimento wins it would see him become a 2-weight MinProBA champion, having already reigned at 105lbs. For Tejares the bout is a chance to end a 16 fight win-less run, though it's likely that that run will continue unless Alimento is left a broken fighter mentally following the bout in Thailand.
For those who can't remember the fight with Chanachai, the Thai was left in a coma after collapsing in his corner. The bout had been exciting until the Thai collapsed, and had been a real eye opener in terms of giving Alimento a chance to show his ability. Hopefully the bout won't have left mental scares on the Filipino.
For those who didn't see the Alimento Vs Chanachai bout, we've included it below.
