After much talk and deliberation the venue and date have finally been confirmed for the WBO Light Flyweight title fight between Donnie Nietes (32-1-4, 18) and Moises Fuentes (19-1-1, 10).
The date, as mentioned a while back, will be May 10th whilst the venue has finally been confirmed as the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila.
The men both go in to this bout with a serious point to prove after a controversial draw in March last year.
The draw saw Nietes controversially retaining his title in a bout that some of our time saw as a clear victory for Fuentes who appeared to out work and out hustle the Filipino star. The Filipino's corner, of course, felt their man had done more than enough to win the decision with his accurate punches but from where we're sat we do feel his was fortunate.
Of course retaining your title by fortune sees you with a point to prove when given a chance and it'll be obvious that Nietes doesn't want this one to be close. He may not have the power to see off Fuentes but he'll hope to find an extra gear and put the bout beyond any doubt. Likewise Fuentes will be hoping to make an eve stronger case to take the victory considering he's again the fighter on the road.
Although no under-card bouts have yet been announced we are expecting a good array of ALA prospects to be on show whilst both Rey Bautista andMilan Melindo have been heavily linked for card.
