Our sources in the Philippines have informed us that the popular Denver "The Excitement" Cuello (33-5-6, 21) will return to the ring on August 16th ending an injury enforced break from the ring that followed his loss to China's Xiong Zhao Zhong back in July 2013.
Cuello has unfortunately been plagued by injury woes in his recent times with his right shoulder having been a major issue in his last 3 fights. Hopefully the extended break and rehabilitation will have allowed him to have fully recovered by the time he gets back into the ring.
As well as the August 16th date we've also been told that his opponent will be Indonesian Tommy Seran (23-2, 14). Seran is well known to Indonesian fans as he has already fought numerous other Filipino fighters, most notably Milan Melindo who stopped in in 4 rounds in Macau last year. From the Melindo result we'd expect Cuello to stop Seran quickly though of course it's less about the result and more about what shape the shoulder of Cuello is in. If he re-injures it again then there is every possibility that that will be the end of his career.
Whilst we shouldn't really take sides we really wish Cuello all the best on his return to the ring. He's great fun to watch and it would be a massive shame if we had to see such an exciting and likeable fighter call quits on his career when he's still only in his 20's. From everyone here, we all with Denver good luck!
