Once regarded as one of the best Minimumweight's on the planet Denver Cuello (36-5-6, 24) was a dangerous little man with a reputation for being heavy handed and exciting. Sadly his career would fall apart in the early 00's with a number of injury issues and fighters avoiding him. By the time he eventually got a shot at a world title, against Xiong Zhao Zhong in 2013, injuries had really curtailed what he could do in the ring. Those injuries showed against Zhong, in a bout he lost by majority decision, and would go on to keep him away from the ring for over a year afterwards.
Sadly Cuello's career never really recovered, and his last bout was in June 2015, when he beat Boy Tanto in Thailand.
Today however the excellent Ian Melodillar informed us that Cuello was now set to return to the ring on March 8th, to take on Indonesian veteran Jack Amisa (21-45-2, 14).
This will be Cuello's first bout in well over 3 years' whilst Amisa will be fighting for the first time since a loss to Wanheng Menayothin in August 2017.
