Earlier today it was announced that Dennis Tubieron (19-3-2, 8) would be fighting in a world title eliminator on April 11th at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, England. The 25 year old Filipino fighter, dubbed "The Scorpion", will be fighting against the unbeaten Josh Warrington (19-0, 3), himself a very talented fighter who hits significantly harder than his record indicates, in a very interesting bout.
Tubieron is best known for his short lived reign as the WBC International bantamweight champion. That reign began with him upsetting Japan's limited but heavy handed Hiroki Shiino back in September 2012. Unfortunately for Tubieron he would lose a rematch to Shiino just 9 months later as the two men traded blows for the OPBF Bantamweight title. Just 6 months after the Shiino rematch he was stopped by Valentine Borg and since then he has struggled to get any real career moment with narrow wins over Rey Ramos and Rogelio Jon Doliguez as well as a draw with Carlo Magali.
Although capable of an upset, such as his wins over Shiino and Doliguez, it's fair to say that Tubieron isn't a proven world class fighter he is however ranked #11 by the WBA at Featherweight, one place ahead of Warrington.
