With a 100% KO rate and a style that looks incredible it's hard to bet against WBC Flyweight champion Daigo Higa (13-0, 13) [比嘉 大吾], ahead of his first defense tomorrow against Frenchman Thomas Masson (17-3-1, 5). Sadly though it's almost impossible to actually bet on Higa, who has been priced as ainsanely unbackable favourite.
The Okinawan tornado has been best priced at 1/41 to retain his title, with many bookies actually pricing him at an even less exciting 1/50. Essentially these are odds of bookmakers who suggest Higa isn't even in a fight. He is totally impossible to back, and even more annoyingly there aren't even odds on the stoppage win for the Japanese puncher.
For those who do like the upset, and think that Masson's size and reach will be too much for the much shorter Higa, the challenger can be backed at a very attracive 12/1. The return on a win for the Frenchman is sizable, despite the fact that few are really giving him any sort of a chance.
The draw is available at 33/1 for those interested in that outcome.
