On May 20th we'll see the sensationally exciting Daigo Higa (12-0, 12) [比嘉 大吾] take on WBC Flyweight champion Juan Hernandez Navarrete (34-2, 25), in what will be Higa's first world title challenge and Hernandez's first defense.
Today, ahead of thst bout, Higa took part in a 10 round sparring session, with a number of those rounds taking place against Japanese Flyweight champion Takuya Kogawa (28-4, 13) [粉川 拓也].
The session was the second timeHiga has been 10 rounds this week, and although he was clearly tired at times he always seemed to have the energy to press Kogawa, a very talented fighter himself, backwards.
The session also saw Higa and his team speak a bit in depth about the preparation for the bout, and it seems like Higa is slowly altering his diet to try and make weight. There's still a lot of time left in the came but it's clear that his time at 112lbs might be limited, win or lose against Hernandez.
