Last week saw Japanese model-come-boxer Riyako Goshi (1-2) return to boxing after 5 years out of the ring. The southpaw returned to the ring and claimed her first victory with a decision over Thailand's Thanawan Sithsaithong (0-1) though stole the headlines for coming to the weigh in dressed in cosplay as Sailor Venus from the popular Sailor Moon franchise.
Whilst the weigh in was certainly interesting with Goshi stealing the lime light it seems like she's been inspired somewhat by fellow model-come-boxer Tomomi Takano (5-0, 4) who has caused a stir in recent weigh ins by wearing, well, whatever she wants.
Although neither fighter is a world champion or anything like that it's not beyond the realms of possibility that Goshi and Takano could actually fight each other later this year. Of course that would need both to keep winning and Goshi would certainly be wanting to have a winning record before facing Tomomi but the fight is getting some interest in what would be a very series fight in the ring.
Whilst it would be a fight in the ring the most interesting part of the whole event would certainly be the weigh in. And we'd certainly be asking what would they wear for that one?
If the fight does get made we'd have to favour Tomomi who appears to be developing her skills through genuine hard work and would also be the naturally bigger, rangier and taller fighter. Saying that it would certainly get a lot of interest in Japan, maybe even more interest than some more meaningful recent bouts which have sadly been ignored by fans around the country.
