Both men were very slow to check in to the hotel which appears to have been busy ahead of this weekend's big show. By they had each checked in they were said to have looked extremely tired, despite the fact they had only taken a few hours to get from their Thai homeland to Macau.
The experienced Chonlatarn will be fighting WBO Featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko (2-1, 1) in what will be the Thai fighter's second world title bout. From what we understand he had got some 8lbs to lose before his weigh in. That however shouldn't be that difficult with the weight loss being something he would expect to lose from draining. Despite the weight he has been quoted as saying he has had the best camp of his career so far.
Kwanpichit on the other hand is apparently 5lb above his target weight ahead of his bout with Zou Shiming (5-0, 1). Kwanpichit appears to know that he has been selected as the "fall guy" for Shiming ahead of a proposed IBF title fight featuring the Chinese fighter next year. The Thai know that he has been written off by many and that a win here would really throw a spanner in the works of those plans. He will also be aware that Shiming isn't as bad as some in the west suggest and will know that this is the toughest bout of his career.
The two men both appear confident of wins despite being being viewed as big under-dogs, if either wins then they will become a very attractive opponent to fight in 2015 and could see big money thrown their way. A loss for either will just send them back on to the Thai scene where activity pays despite a low level of competition.
