The Chinese boxing scene might not be a huge one but it does seem to be a quick growing one and on May 16th we get to see the return to the ring of most promising young Chinese fighter, Qiu Xiao Jun (12-2, 4).
At the moment Jun is the #13 WBC ranked Super Bantamweight and the current WBC Asia Council Continental Super Bantamweight champion. He will be defending both that world ranking and his title on May 16th as he faces 27 year old Indonesian Rasmanudin (18-4-2, 9).
Known as "The Lost Boy" Rasmanudin is one of the more recognisable names in Indonesian boxing right now having fought 4 of his 24 bouts outside of his homeland. Those bouts away from Indonesia, all losses unfortunately, have seen him sharing the ring with well known fighters including Rolly Lunas, Ryosuke Iwasa and Marlon Tapales. Although they were losses they were at a good level and for Jun to win he will need to prove that he's on that sort of fringe world class level.
For Jun this will be the 4th defence of his title and a chance to try and further improve his world ranking.
This bout will be promoted by Zovi Boxing and will be held at the Nan Yang City Gymnasium.
