Ahead of the WBA Light Heavyweight Super title fight tonight both Beibut Shumenov (13-1, 8), the defending champion, and unbeaten challenger Tamas Kovacs (23-0, 14) made weight.
Shumenov came in dead on the limit at 175lbs exactly whilst Kovacs came in half a pound lighter at 174.5lbs.
Going in to the bout Shumenov will be a clear favourite with various bookies pricing Shumenov as a prohibitive favourite priced as lowly as 1/20 and as good as 1/7. Kovacs, as the under-dog, is priced liberally at betwee 7/1 and 17/2.
The fight, which will be aired on Showtime later tonight will be 1 of 4 world title fights televised on the card which also includes bouts between exciting Mexican Leo Santa Cruz and Cesar Seda, American star Adrien Broner and Argentinian banger Marcos Maidana and the highly touted Keith Thurman against Jesus Soto Karass.
