The monthly MVP was Japanese Super Bantamweight champion Yusaka Kuga (16-2-1, 11) [久我勇作], following his opening round win over Ryo Kosaka (15-4-1, 7) [小坂遼] in a mandatory title defense. His plans for the future have been known for a while, and we know he will return to the ring on July 27th to defense his Japanese title against Shingo Wake (24-5-2, 16) [和氣 慎吾], with the plan being to move into a world title fight following that contest.
The Fighting Spirit award was won by Kuga's OPBF counter part Hidenori Otake (31-2-3, 14) [大竹 秀典], who stopped hard hitting Filipino challenger Brian Lobetania (13-5-3, 11). The former world title challenger turns 37 in July but still seems hungry to become a world champion and suggested that he was still getting better. His plans for the future haven't yet been revealed but it's clear he's not thinking of retirement quite yet.
Japanese Atomweight champion Nanae Suzuki (6-2-1, 1) [鈴木菜々江] claimed the Newcomer award courtesy of her win over Sana Hazuki (6-3-1, 2) [葉月さな]. She revealed that she would be back in the ring in July to defend her title, and encouraged fans to attend the bout if they could.
