Thanks to our friends over at http://boxing.ru/ (Russian language website) we're recently read that Dmitry Pirog, the unbeaten former WBO Middleweight champion is set to return to the ring.
Pirog, who burst on to the American scene way back in 2010 with a victory over the then highly regarded Daniel Jacobs, has been inactive over the last 15 months due to a back injury. It appears however that he's set to return to the US to begin talks in coming months.
With a record of 20-0 (15) Pirog looked set to become a star though issues with his back, with opposition and with the WBO all appeared to plague his career over the last year and a bit. Those issue saw a prospective WBO/WBA unification bout with Gennady Golovkin fall by the wayside and since then Pirog has essentially been on the shelf with serious questions about his career and whether or not it would continue.
There is no word, as of yet, on when Pirog will make his in ring return or who against though we will admit that we're looking forward to it and hoping it will be sooner rather than later.
