In Saitama fans saw former WBA Atomweight champion Ayaka Miyao (21-6-2, 5) [宮尾 綾香] bounce back from her 2015 loss to the fantastic Momo Koseki with an easy stoppage win against Krikanok Islandmuaythai (4-6-1, 2).
The former champion, who had recorded 5 defenses before losing to Koseki in a world title unification bout, quickly established herself in the bout, using her superior speed and skills. Those skills saw her hurt the Thai in round 3 before forcing the referee to intervene in round 4.
Following the bout Miyao seemed to suggest that she didn't like being called a "former" world champion and that she was on the hunt for another world title reign, even hinting that her next bout could be a world title bout later in the year.
The other notable Ohashi fighter was former world title challenger Ryuji Hara (20-2, 11) [原隆二] who over-came Takashi Omae (13-6-5, 1) [大前貴史] in 3 rounds. The bout was Hara's comeback bout after coming up short last time out, losing in an IBF Minimumweight world title bout against Katsunari Takayama and whilst he wasn't punch perfect he was in a totally different league to Omae, who was unable to bounce back from a 4th round loss to Ken Shiro last year.
Hara was in charge through out and finished the show with a right hand that left Omae on the canvas as he showed touches of the brilliance that saw many tip him for the top, sadly though this is only the first step in a rebuilding process that has many more steps to go.
