It's taken a while for Teiken to announce the under-card for their March 2nd card, headlined by a WBC Bantamweight title bout between defending champion Shinsuke Yamanaka (26-0-2, 18) [山中慎介] and Mexican challenger Carlos Carlson (22-1, 13).
Today saw part of that under-card being confirmed with former world champion Brian Viloria (36-5-0-2, 22) finally having his foe for the show being announced.
The Filipino, who will be making his Japanese debut, will be taking on Mexican Ruben Montoya (14-4-1, 9), who is a 33 year who has mixed with some good opponents. In 2013 he went the 12 round distance with Paul Butler in the UK and last year he suffered a technical decision loss to Pedro Guevara, with that bout being stopped in the 6th round. Notable he holds a solid win over Efrain Perez and is a good live opponent for Viloria, who hasn't fought since October 2015.
We are still waiting to hear who Ryosuke Iwasa (22-2, 14) [岩佐 亮佑] will be facing but we're expecting to hear that announcement in the coming days, however today it was stated that IWasa would be in an 8 rounder and not the 10 as previously speculated.
